Job Description:

Starting From: 1 May 2020

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development of the strategic and institutional framework for renewable energy (RE) service delivery through sub-national governments (municipalities and provinces)
  • Design and organize capacity development activities for provincial and local governments and stakeholders
  • Develop, implement and scale-up approaches for Productive Energy Use targeting Disadvantaged Groups and Women to improve their livelihoods
  • Develop and implement digital solutions (e.g. apps, websites, webinars) that allow mass-capacitation of subnational governments and stakeholders on RE development
  • Support all three level of government and the private sector in development of market based RE project that are based on principles of financial and commercial sustainability
  • Support development and upscaling of innovative technologies and financially sustainable business models of small scale RE products and services.
  • Develop and implement a quality control mechanism for RE in the new federal context
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of RERA II programme activities 
  • Support the knowledge management, experience sharing, and communication of successes of the programme
  • Build network and partnerships to create synergy in the sector with other multilateral and bilateral development projects at the provincial level

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Work experience in developing and implementing digital solutions (apps, webinars, etc.) 
  • Experience in policy support and in working with different RE-related government levels in the federal context (AEPC, local and provincial governments) is a must
  • Working experience with market-based approaches and public private partnership model 
  • Experience in working in rural areas of Nepal is an advantage
  • Experience with working in donor funded projects will be an asset
  • Excellent language skills (oral and written) in English and Nepali

Education + Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, (renewable) energy, management and/or related topics with 10 years of total working experience in renewable energy sector and energy related issues
  • OR a master’s degree in engineering, environment science, (renewable) energy, management and/or related topics with 8 years of total working experience in renewable energy sector and energy related issues
  • At least 10 years of experience in renewable energy sector and energy related issues (experience in the rural energy sector would be an added advantage)
  • At least 5 years of experience in capacity development and organizational development on Renewable Energy
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading work-packages independently and supervising (teams of) consultants and managing larger contracts
  • At least 3 years of experience in improving livelihoods of disadvantaged groups and women through Productive Energy Use
