Job Description:
Software Engineer is responsible for writing backend and CLI applications. Key duties of this role include the writing of PHP scripts and using the internal framework to build applications according to a client's needs. Other tasks also include troubleshooting any errors or issues relating to PHP programs and creating documentation for the same.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build large-scale crawlers that have the ability to crawl through millions of pages
- Manage and refine existing crawlers using PHP or JavaScript or Python.
- Contribute to the development of the in-house crawling framework
- Work as a part of the team in planning, designing and developing the product, improvements, and the new features
- Be a part of something big and push the cutting-edge tools even further
- Communicate with the client through e-mail to understand requirements and discuss possible solutions
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge in character encodings, database (SQL), jQuery, and other programming languages is a plus
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills, a collaborator who shares knowledge with the peers
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be curious like a cat and creative like a child.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to follow clear instructions according to client demands
- Creative ability to produce effective solutions to client problems

Education + Experience:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred, but we value expertise over a degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Programming
- Extensive knowledge of HTTP, GET, POST, and HTTP Headers
- Experienced with the integration of third-party APIs and web services
- Proficient regular expressions, XPath and CSS selectors
