Job Description:
1. Oversee plans for engineering
- Coordinate with engineers, leaders to plan and keep the engineering teams moving
- Ensure that teams are meeting deadlines and deliverablesBe aware of the changes and milestones of teams and different products
- Work closely with the leadership team to define engineering direction and product engineering roadmap
2. Ensure quality of engineering projects
- Periodically, audit code, process, and practices to ensure best practices are being followed within teams
- Review technical documents or guidelines
- Identify and plan to remove obstacles that hinder the quality of projects
3. Build a healthy relationship between engineering teams, and the company
- Make sure engineering teams are in sync and the communication is on point
- Acknowledge complaints and concerns from engineering teams and plan for improvements
4. Manage and administer engineering teams (people management)
- Identify, analyze the current skill set of the teams, company’s need and the gap
- Make sure people have the skills needed to achieve their goals in differen teams
- Forecast resourcing needs and skill required to hire engineers by following company hiring standards
- Participate in goal setting, and regular reporting of team progress
5. Help engineers grow professionally
- Mentor and develop engineers
- Make sure team leads are aware of growth & learning opportunities in the team
- Periodically, conduct feedback sessions within teams to improve the company's process/style
6. Contribute to the development
- Be a part of the engineering team as an individual contributor
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills and can demonstrate having collaborated with tech leads and senior engineers
- Hands-on work experience with at least one tech stack including backend, frontend, and/or databases
- Ability to deal constructively with changes in the environment, product requirements, engineering teams, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS
- Familiarity with agile framework and product management tools
- Experience in Python/JavaScript is preferred
- Experience in Data Warehousing, ETL, Business Intelligence/Analytics is a plus
Education + Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
