Job Description:

  • Be responsible to the Head of Science department in coordinating the use of, and development of practical resources and facilities including the provision of guidance and support in meeting the practical requirements of the science curriculum.
  • Take responsibility for the promotion and observance of a healthy and safe working environment for the technical support service. 
  • Actively leading and coordinating the assessment, monitoring and review of both health and safety procedures and information resources.
  • Keeping up to date with current procedures and practices in health and safety especially, through continuing professional development.
  • The provision of technical advice on health and safety issues to teachers and technical support staff.
  • The safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances and responding to actual or potential hazards.
  • The health and safety storage and accessibility of equipment and materials.
  • To ensure that the technical team is resourced, organised and developed to meet the performance standards required by the department.
  • To design, develop and maintain specialist resources and/or long term projects and offer professional guidance, assistance and support to pupils and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum
  • Be responsible for setting up and monitoring systems used in the management and control of practical resources including leading on stock control, compiling orders, liaising or negotiating with suppliers and maintaining appropriate records.

  • Hard-working and dedicated to continuous improvement and communicating successes within and outside school.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all 'stakeholders', creating a harmonious and collaborative community.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, work on one's own initiative and react appropriately to competing demands. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to solve problems, make good judgements and take decisions. 
  • Awareness of TBS commitment to community work and willingness to contribute to TBS charities and community programmes.
  • Awareness of one’s own vulnerabilities and 'knowledge gaps; with the mindset to seek feedback, self reflect, develop and improve. 

Understanding and knowledge of ICT and a willingness to further develop ICT skills

Education + Experience:

 A good degree in Science faculty from renowned University
