Mercantile Traders first began dealing in computers from a business standpoint in 1983. It opened up a computer division comprising of only two personnel. Sensing the involvement in office automation would not be complete without a strong commitment to the ever-growing computer industry, a new sister company, Mercantile Office Systems, was launched in 1985. With the boom in the communications field, Mercantile Communications Pvt. Ltd. was formally established in 1994 with the sole objective of providing Internet Services in Nepal. The operations for providing Internet services were started in 1993 on test basis. Today Mercantile Office Systems (MOS) is the leading computer company in Nepal employing over 300 professionals with wide interests encompassing almost every domain of computerization. Its key partners, namely, local customers and foreign principals, have been selected with care and they, in turn, have contributed tremendously to the company’s growth. Mercantile has a strong team of over 90 programmers involved in developing software applications. Mercantile has developed software applications for banking (10 out of the 15 commercial banks and 6 financial institutions use the software developed by Mercantile). Mercantile has also developed a web-based application called E tracks, which keeps track of events happening in the company and also provides a wide range of support services, from seamlessly handling the support calls overflow to take over all products responsibilities on a 24/7 basis. Mercantile has also developed web-based applications for its international clients, which involves matching the requirement of buyers and sellers. Mercantile is on the way of developing Intranet portals, which are going to be used internally as well as by its international customers. Mercantile Office Systems Pvt. Ltd. Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play liaison role between the department, intra departments, and Sales officers.
  • Overall sales growth of telecommunications-related products such as the Internet, Intranet utilizing Fiber, VSAT, Wireless communications medium, MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) Product, TIMS (Threat Intelligence Management Security Service), PIS (Premium Internet Service), etc.
  • Guide sales team to sell telecommunications-related products such as the Internet, Intranet utilizing Fiber, VSAT, Wireless communications medium, MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) Product, TIMS (Threat Intelligence Management Security Service), PIS (Premium Internet Service) etc.
  • Supervise Client Retention and Relationship Management
    • Guides sales team to address and resolve technical issues reported by existing clients in coordination with the network, system, implementation and NOC teams
    • Guides sales team to initiate and maintain professional relationships with customers and participate in quarterly meetings with corporate clients.
  • Supervise and Monitor Customer Account Management
    • Guide and monitor sales team to manage customer accounts by keeping up-to-date records on the acquired customer in terms of their bandwidth usage, service start dates, agreement/ service commencement dates, expiry dates, customer contact detail, MRC and OTC values etc. Customer Database excel sheet format is forwarded to the customer by Operations Team.
    • Guide and Supervise Sales team to coordinate and follow up with the customers for timely payments if our payment collector is not able to collect the payments in time.
    • Guide and Supervise sales team to coordinate and follow up with the technical team on implementation and installation of new circuits.
    • Guide, Coordinate, and follow up with technical staff to ensure customers receive the best quality customer service
  • Supervise and Monitor the Sales team for Agreement Management which includes the following.
    • Track agreement expiry dates
    • Follow up on expiring agreements to ensure timely renewals
    • Prepare new agreements
    • Negotiate pricing/ bandwidth upgrades when preparing new or updated agreements.
    • The bandwidth charge and equipment price are controlled by the Operations team involving (Operations Manager/ Assistant Operations Manager), hence, the Sales team needs to coordinate with the Operations team for price or bandwidth review. A standard agreement template will be provided to the sales team by the Operations Manager.
  • Supervise and Monitor Sales team in collecting VSAT User License Management
    • Collect the VSAT user license form from the customer and submit it to the Operations Officer for further processing.
    • Note: All VSAT customers need a VSAT user license (regulated by Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA)) and a Frequency License (from the Ministry of Information and Communication (MOIC)).
  • Monitor and guide sales team for Payment Collection
    • Monitor and guide sales team for  payment collector by following up with clients on payments
  • Reporting
    • Guide and monitor the Sales team to submit timely Monthly Sales report to the Operations Manager.
    • Note: the report should contain the number of sales made and the number of terminations with MRC and OTC value secured or lost.
    • Guide and monitor  Sales team to submit timely Weekly Sales report to the Operations manager
  • Market Research
    • Conduct market studies on competitors’ products and their marketing strategies and build strategies  to compete with our competitors.

  • Project Management from acquiring of the customers to network implementation to post-sales support advantageous.
  • Marketing skills required

Education + Experience:

  • MBS/MBA required
  • Prior experience of 4 years in related field
