About Organization

Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO) Nepal is one of Nepal’s leading psychosocial organizations. It was established in 2005 to promote the psychosocial well-being and mental health of people in conflict-affected and other vulnerable communities through the development of sustainable, culturally-appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems.

Project information:

EMILIA project (e-mhGAP Intervention Guide in Low and middle income countries: Impact and Acceptability) is a 3-years research project which aims to carry out a proof-of-concept study to use the e-version of clinical guidelines for the integration of mental health into primary health care on a mobile device, which aims to support in assessment and management of mental health problems. This will be implemented in few Municipalities/Rural Municipalities in the Jhapa district from February 2020.

TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed, and result-oriented candidates for the position of Research Assistant (RA)

Station:  Birtamode, Jhapa

Duration: One Year (with possible extension for 3 months)

Time: March 2020 to February 2021

Key Responsibilities

  • RAs will be responsible for following duties but not limited to:
  • Attend and be actively engaged in RA training for 2-3 weeks in March 2020
  • Assist in translation of research instruments into local language
  • Travel different health facilities to conduct screenings for potential participants and conduct baseline interviews
  • Involve in pre-post training evaluation of health workers
  • Involve in data coding, editing, and data entry
  • Work closely with Research Supervisor and Project Coordinator in other project related activities 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be a resident of Jhapa district during research period
  • Preference for understanding and speaking local languages
  • Prior work experience in NGOs, INGOs, and community development will be preferred
  • Knowledge on research (both qualitative and quantitative methods)
  • Preference for previous research experience
  • Preference will be given to those having experience on psychosocial and mental health research
  • Preference for those with two-wheeler license 

Education + Experience:

  • Must have completed Bachelor’s Degree in social science, psychology, or any relevant discipline
