Job Description:

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications, for the below mentioned position, from interested Nepalese candidates.

Regional Safeguarding Advisor – Asia (Based in Kathmandu)

Regional Safeguarding Advisor will be responsible to socialize and raise awareness of CARE International Safeguarding and PSHEA & CA (Protection from Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, Abuse and Child Abuse) Policy across the region and strengthen capacity of the Country Offices (COs) to respond to SHEA / CA cases in a professional, sensitive, coordinated, accountable and urgent way in line with best practices within CARE and the sector. This position will report to the CARE USA Head of Safeguarding and PSHEA, and will work closely with safeguarding team and CO PSHEA focal points and investigators. 

This position will be primarily responsible to support CARE Offices in the Asia Region to respond to SHEA / CA cases, raise awareness of the issues and CARE Policy Commitments through training and coaching, socialize use of global SHEA / CA reporting mechanism, support in designing and socializing community based complaint mechanism, lead SHEA / CA investigation in the region ensuring survivor support mechanism, and build capacity of CO PSHEA focal points and investigators. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High level of resilience and ability to remain calm under difficult circumstances
  • Experience of managing organizational change and uncertainty
  • Ability to be impartial in the most challenging situations
  • Excellent problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Highly confidential and discrete
  • Proven experience in building and maintaining trust
  • Fluent in a regional language, written and spoken

Education + Experience:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field of studies. Master’s Degree preferred. 

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of safeguarding experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in humanitarian work
  • Training and experience in managing sensitive and serious investigations involving SHEA / CA
  • Training and experience in interview skills and techniques, and facilitation or mediation techniques
