Job Description:

KIRDARC Nepal is an NGO dedicated to uphold the rights of marginalized and excluded communities through its interventions on Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance with especial focus on building capacities of right holders, duty bearers and civil society contributing to inclusive growth and fair development. It works with a vision of ‘a just and prosperous society'.

KIRDARC Nepal has been implementing the “SAHAYATRA-II project” in Kalikot district in financial support of Save the Children. Thus, KIRDARC invites applications from suitable Nepali candidates for the following full-time position under the SAHAYATRA-II project.

Psychosocial Counselor - 1 (Based in Kalikot)

Key Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for overall management of psychosocial counselling services to staffs of KIRDARC in Kalikot and other partner organizations of Save the Children in Dailekh and Jajarkot under the SAHAYATRA-II project. The counselling service to be conducted virtually or face to face based on the situation. S/he will be responsible to conducting psychosocial wellbeing assessment of staffs, children, parents, and caregiver. S/he will be responsible to identify the cases needing psychosocial services, support to PSWs to conduct vulnerability assessment & capacity building of project staff, conducting counseling sessions, documentation and reporting to the respective supervisor of organization and SC district and field office base technical staff. Preferred Qualifications and Experience: The candidate is expected to have professional knowledge and skills of Psychosocial counseling service provided to adult and children. The candidate should have excellent coordination, communication and interpersonal skills (team building and team work) with key stakeholders at project and district level. 

The ideal candidate for the position should have very good skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting in English and Nepali. Good computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and candidate should have the pro-active, innovative, willingness and committed to stay and travel in the remote areas to work with poor and vulnerable communities. The candidates must demonstrate good leadership, team management, result-based management skills with proven experience of working in participatory community development approaches. 

Education + Experience:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology or Six months Psychosocial Counselor training (Preferable master's degree in Psychology).
