Job Description:

TPO Nepal is implementing the EMILIA project (e-MhGAP Intervention Guide in Low and middle income countries: Impact and Acceptability) in a few Municipalities and Village Municipalities in Jhapa district from 1st November 2018. EMILIA is a research project which aims to carry out a proof-of-concept study to use the e-version of clinical guidelines for the integration of mental health into primary health care (mhGAP-app) on a mobile device, which aims to support in assessment and management of mental disorders in primary health care facilities.

TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed, and result-oriented candidate for the position of Project Coordinator (PC) based in the Jhapa district.

Job Title:  Project Coordinator

Station: Jhapa 

Duration:  7-month

Start date: 1st June 2021

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of the EMILIA project in the selected program VDCs in Jhapa district
  • Coordination with district public health office (DPHO), Municipalities, Village Municipalities and other relevant district level stakeholders for effective implementation of the project
  • Coordinate with provincial health directorate, provincial health training center and provincial logistic management center for implementation of the project
  • Work closely with psychiatrist to facilitate training and supervision of primary health care workers 
  • Take lead role to organize training and supervisions of primary health care workers in the project areas
  • Conduct regular field visit to support health workers for implementation of the mhGAP app
  • Provide inputs, comments and feedback to WHO’s technical person on refining and modification of the mhGAP app
  • Provide regular reports to the principal investigator 
  • Participate in academic article/journal writings and publication. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and working experience on the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP) Intervention Guides (IG)
  • Prior experiences on project planning, design and implementation 
  • Prior experience of healthcare apps using mobile phones/tablets  
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas of Jhapa district
  • Good command on written/ spoken English and Nepali

Education + Experience:

  • Should have completed MBBS/Health Assistant (HA) course along with Master’s Degree in Public Health, Psychology or Social Work  
  • Minimum three years of working experience on mental health (e.g. PHCs, hospital etc.)
