Job Description:

Duty Station: Pokhara 
Duration: 01.07.2021-31.07.2023

Responsibilities:

  • Support the process of documentation and collecting victim’s stories in therapeutic way
  • Review of up-to-date psycho-social tools and identification of areas for capacity development
  • Capacity development of Kopila Nepal’s team (i.e. psychosocial methods, care, reintegration and rehabilitation)
  • Support to Kopila’s psychosocial department to enhance capacities such as case management and supervision
  • Development of strategies to expand outreach of psychosocial support services to communities
  • Organizational development (e.g. remote management, fundraising and report writing)
  • Capacity building for survivor networks in local level advocacy and outreach and linkage with others in need

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge of psycho-social methods for working with victims of violence especially group methods
  • Experience in advisory and capacity-building with teams or groups and knowledge on practice-focused research and analysis
  • General knowledge and experience in methods of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, gender sensitivity, conflict sensitivity, and Human Rights approach
  • Knowledge in distance monitoring, remote Management
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Nepali language would be an asset or willingness to learn Nepali language

Location Information

Pokhara (Nepal’s second-largest city in terms of population) Climate: Humid, sub-tropical climate. Elevation keeps temperatures moderate. Healthcare: There is one international travel clinic in Pokhara. For more complicated treatments, travel to health facilities in Kathmandu or even Delhi or Bangkok might be required Supply: Pokhara offers good shopping options for daily needs Accessibility: International airport in Kathmandu (capital). Pokhara has a domestic airport and can otherwise be reached by road (est. 7 hours drive from Kathmandu) Children: Pokhara is generally safe for children, but the school and medical situation is not according to international standards. School situation: There are no international schools in Pokhara; however, there are English medium playgroups, pre-schools and high schools available that don’t meet international standard Safety and Security: The security situation requires increased alertness. There are special security risk mitigation measures applying to GIZ staff on-site. All staff must follow GIZ security instructions at any time. Please also read up on county-specific advice provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. Nepal lies in an especially earthquake prone area.

The security situation requires heightened vigilance. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. The working environment is subject to special restrictions on the freedom of movement. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment. Notes

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.

Driving licence is required.

Education + Experience:
