Job Description:

 Position: Paramedics and Laboratory personnel

Name of the Project:  Intensified ACD projectof malaria

Funding Agency:- Save the Children/GF

No of position: 4  paramedics and 4 laboratory personnnel 

Reports to:  Intensified ACD Team Leader (IATL)/program officer

Key role of position holder:

Intensified ACD team (having 2  staff- 1 paramedics and 1 laboratory personnel) will be deployed for two designated districts namely – 1. Saptari and Siraha; 2. Dhanusha and Mahottari; 3. Sarlahi and Rautahat and 4. Bara and Parsa. So, there are 4 Intensified ACD teams in Province 2 .The team act as focal point of contact and coordination across the all high, moderate risk and malaria potential wards in their respective districts, HFs, NP/GP and Intensified ACD team. Coordinate with SMC/Entomologist and collect information on high, moderate risk wards as well as identified malaria active foci  and malaria potential areas of assigned district.

  • Prepare plan of action for ACD based on malaria risk areas in  fortnightly or monthly basis. Take approval of movement/plan from the Intensified ACD Team Leader (IATL)/program officer
  • Communicate with concerned HFs staff/FCHV and inform about date and timing of ACD at least 3 days prior to clinic day.
  • Collect all necessary supplies and materials including form and format in coordination with SMO/entomologist/NP/GP/HF 
  • The team visits high and moderate risk wards of malaria, and conduct ACD with support of FCHV, prepares malaria smears, and provides effective treatment.
  • The team will send the notification of a confirmed case of malaria through SMS/phone to local health facility and HO/SMC. The staff of local health facility/ VCO will confirm and enter the information in to MDIS and after confirmation trigger case-based surveillance and foci investigation.
  • Use HMIS 5.2 to record data during ACD.
  • Report findings to local HFs, GP/NP/HO and Team leader using standard reporting format.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

a)  Paramedics

  • Experience in performing malaria RDT and malaria microscopy (slide preparation, staining, examination, and slide storage)  
  • Preferred to experience in recording and reporting of malaria data through HMIS
  • Have a good understanding of the health system, supply chain and local governance.

b)  Laboratory personnel

  • Experience in performing malaria RDT and malaria microscopy (slide preparation, staining, examination, and slide storage)  
  • Preferred to experience in recording and reporting of malaria data through HMIS
  • Have a good understanding of the health system, supply chain and local governance.

Education + Experience:

a)  Paramedics

  • Minimum AHWor related health area from recognized institute and registered in NHPC

b)  Laboratory personnel

  • Minimum CMLT degree or related health area from recognized institute and registered in NHPC
