Job Description:

Contract Type: Fixed term contract with three months of probation period

Program Background:

Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program is a community-based model of inclusive development implemented in direct partnership with the provincial government of Province No.1 and local governments. The goal of the program is to prevent avoidable disabilities and improve quality of life of children and adults with disabilities and their families through community-based rehabilitation. It works to strengthen community support systems for the achievement of these goals.

Summary of job purpose: 

Officer-IT will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the smooth operation of Karuna Foundation Nepals Information Technology services and systems including computers, networks, storage, internet connectivity, internal applications, and systems.

S/he will be responsible for the operation, development and support of several Management Information Systems and Applications ensuring proper planning and organization of information security, disaster recovery and backup system in ICT. 

Key Responsibilities:

Management of MIS

  • Provide technical support to operate MIS
  • Monitor functioning of MIS
  • Train users on use of MIS
  • Maintenance and update of MIS

IT support

  • Provide support for all KFN office IT equipment, including computers, network, storage devices, internet connectivity and printers
  • Work with internet service providers to ensure consistent standards of service undertake speed tests and monitor availability
  • Support for relocation of computer equipment as a result of office location or personnel changes
  • Offer effective way of using IT to the team
  • Be updated with the new development and innovations in IT sectors 

Update and handle official website and social media

  • Help update website and other social media of the organization
  • Provide technical support and orient communication section of KFN on handling of website and social media
  • Manage web space of the organisation including security, space allocation, emails, search engine optimization among others

Recording and documentation

  • Ensure all IT related activities are well documented 
  • Security
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Preserving assets, information security and control structures
  • Maintaining local server based anti-virus software and in case of virus infection clean out affected equipment

Other

  • Provide assistance in other activities when requested
  • Coordinate with all KFN team members as and when necessary
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skills and Abilities

  • Technical know-how of office equipment
  • Excellent communication skills both in Nepali and English
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Applicants with two-wheeler driving license is preferred

Education + Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology/information management/computer engineering or computer science from recognized institution with minimum two years of work experience in developmental organization
