Shift Standard (10:00 AM to 06:00 PM)
Position Overview:
The Network and Systems Engineer role is designed to be a full-time member of our Systems Department and position yourself to build upon your experience. A Network and Systems Engineer is a position responsible for maintaining and administering our company's computer networks and add value to the organization by developing and upgrading an efficient network system.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
- Track network performance monitoring and determine if adjustments are required
- Developing and performing a backup/disaster recovery plan for a network emergency
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
- Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
- Maintaining, configuring, and monitoring virus protection software and email applications
- Confer with network users about solving existing system problems
- Overseeing user access to the network
- Identifying, installing and maintaining upgrades to the network
- Planning network infrastructure for new applications and services
- Training network staff to provide support to end-users
- Purchasing and maintaining networking equipment and infrastructure
- Integrating mobile devices into the organization's networks, either (or both of) organizational and personal devices (BYOD)
- Required to work with two or more Isp’s
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers
- Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
- Dependable and flexible when necessary
- Ability to meet work deadlines
Preferred:
- Some common network manager/administrator certifications include those from Cisco(CCNA&CCNP), Juniper Networks, VMware, firewall and other major vendors
- Network security experience
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
- A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
- LAN and WAN experience
Education + Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus
