VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 

Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Coordinator

This is a long term institutional position, not attached to a particular project, and based in Kathmandu office located in Panipokhari/ Maharajgunj area. The Coordinator will assume overall lead of the MEL Unit within the organization while engaging in client coordination and market development work for in MEL sector. Qualification and Skill Requirements

  • University Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing M&E systems in development projects for I/NGOs or donor agencies
  • Experience conducting field research using qualitative and quantitative techniques

Skills

  • Excellent command over both English and Nepali languages
  • Ability to plan, establish priorities and meet deadlines and to initiate and implement activities with minimal oversight and supervision
  • Excellent communicator, with strong report writing skills
  • Strong problem solving ability, quantitative skills and demonstrated capacity and experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting
  • Proficiency in computer-based statistical packages and data management tools (ODK, Access, Stata, SPSS, R, etc.)
  • Strong leadership qualities, training & facilitation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations

Roles and responsibilities

  • Be the focal person of the MEL Unit within the organisation
  • Design and implement Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems to collect, aggregate and analyse data for a wide range of development partners in multiple sectors
  • Develop sampling methodologies to measure program outcomes, test theories of change, evaluation
  • Develop sound data collection tools to collect qualitative and quantitative data
  • Manage evaluation teams and external evaluation consultants in conducting program evaluations and producing high quality evaluation reports
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with subject matter experts, maintain positive contact between program partners, donors and other stakeholders
  • Support the development of proposals including tailored approach and methodology based on the ToR
  • Train field staff in monitoring and evaluation processes and in data collection using digital data collection tools
  • Contribute to the institutional learning processes

Job commencement: From April 2019 onwards

Salary: Negotiable

  •  Post Graduate / Masters in related field
