Database Administrator

Job Description:

• Manage Database Team located in multiple locations
• Handle projects driven by both Offshore & Onshore
• Distribute Work and project tasks
• Track projects and daily tasks
• Manage patch deployments and upgrades following best practices and provide capacity planning expertise
• Provide administration of development database environments including UAT, Processing, Development and QA based Oracle RAC database
• Perform security implementation in both OS and Database level of production servers ensuring several standard policies and compliances (HIPAA, SOX, PHI)
• Support the business to provide logistic support to Analytics, Production Engineers, Project Managers and Developers
• Working with a distributed team of IT and DBA resources to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Vertica database platforms are highly available, optimally configured and efficiently managed
• Maintain Production servers and minimize downtime and tuning performance of database instances
• Plan for System change and implement
• Provide support to Business during Release process.
• Perform short- and long-term system/database planning and analysis including capacity planning, storage performance, system performance and database performance
• Daily use of SQL, PL/SQL,T-SQL performance tuningsoftware installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance activities
• High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Implementing and maintaining large scale OLTP and OLAP systems in mission critical environments
• Information security standards including database system hardening, identity management and database access controls
• Should have knowledge of MS SQL & Oracle
• Should have knowledge of Linux and Windows OS.
• Should have experience in SQL
• Knowledge of Shell, Perl, bash Scripting language
• Administer custom engineered Oracle ExaDATA based Oracle Database software technologies
• Working knowledge of MS SQL Cluster
• Able to support 24X7 Production environment

PREFERABLE SKILLS

• Knowledge of and demonstrable capability in scripting, experience in writing Python/PowerShell or similar scripts
• Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Crucible, ITIL)
• Other databases technologies like Vertica.

Knowledge of Cloud

SOFT SKILLS

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Persuasive in both written and verbal communication
• US Healthcare experience would be added value

Education + Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in CS, IT, software or computer engineering, CIS, or any related field of study
• 10 + years of experience AS DATABASE Administrator in Oracle and MS SQL

Hands-on technical role to support our audit team through client data conversion and the support, development, and delivery of audit tools and reports. Ideal candidate combines experience with Microsoft Access application development VBA, Project management, Comfort with very large datasets (preferably SQL server) and business understanding to mine data and automate workflows focused on identifying anomalies and errors in our client’s business transactions.

Essential Functions:

Perform complex data mining, forensic analysis and aggregation; commingle multiple datasets to develop a streamlined, efficient representation of transaction lifecycles. Data mining for advanced analysis of data; presented in reports and/or interactive auditing tools Collaborate with business process owners to identify opportunities; define business requirements, design solutions to map to and in support of new or existing business processes and / or workflows.

Rapidly implement technical solutions designed to maximize operational efficiency and productivity. Perform Data validation to ensure accuracy and quality of data Large volume data conversion, data cleansing, production report generation, and upholding scheduled data delivery standards. Full life cycle project ownership from analysis to development to delivery of audit solutions. Contribute to documentation initiatives as needed Contribute to group knowledge and best practices Interacts with Auditors and other end users, other analysts and management, Corporate Functions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience developing and/or maintaining applications in Microsoft Access and VBA Advanced SQL Server skills – SQL Query Development and Performance Tuning (DBA Experience also helpful)
• Extensive experience with relational databases RDBMS (Microsoft, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with scripting languages (VBScript, PowerShell) preferred
• Experience working with ETL processes
• Retail analytics support or direct retail experience is preferred
• Skilled in Agile and SCRUM development methodologies (Kanban)
• Excellent communication skills
• Mentors and coaches problem solving and troubleshooting
• Experience in project management is a plus
