Job Description:

We are looking for an Associate Engineering Manager with extensive experience building and managing large e-commerce websites. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams. This position requires strong technical and organizational skills and a passion for keeping oneself and the team up to date with technological advancements. The person must have hands-on experience designing and developing in an agile development environment, possessing expert knowledge of multi-tier applications, and highly scalable hosting environments (including AWS, on-prem, and private data centers).  The successful candidate will lead and grow multiple development teams globally and serve as a technology leader both within the Web App Development teams, and more broadly across Monotype.  

What you will be doing:  

  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and accountability.  
  • Ensure high-quality, timely releases aligned with business goals.  
  • Remove roadblocks proactively and drive execution excellence.  
  • Lead by example—guiding architecture, reviewing code, and improving workflows.  
  • Mentor and develop team members for continuous growth.  
  • Empower your team to solve problems independently, step in for complex ones, and escalate only critical blockers.  
  • Lead technology execution, ensuring performance, scalability, and a seamless customer experience in collaboration with various functional stakeholders. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Tech Expertise: Proficient in MEAN stack and familiar with stacks like Microsoft/LAMP. Skilled in designing databases for microservices, SPAs, and REST APIs (RDBMS & NoSQL).  
  • Development: Strong experience in Agile, TDD, CI/CD, and iterative sprint cycles.  
  • Problem Solver: Sharp troubleshooting skills and proven ability to multitask and prioritize.  
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Experience working with external partners and vendors.  
  • Cloud & Tools: Experience with AWS, containerization, API Gateway, and tools like Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, and GitHub Copilot.  
  • Communication: Clear, effective communicator across teams and global, distributed environments. 

Education + Experience:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's/Master’s in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 10+ Years in web development, particularly for high-traffic, customer-facing products.  
  • Leadership: 3+ years managing diverse product teams, delivering at different cycles, and 4+ years designing & managing high-volume live products.
