Job Description:

Reporting Relationships:
Direction Received:  Chief Finance Officer – MetLife Nepal

General Function:  

This position evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls, preparation of reports, reconciliation, financial statements as per applicable accounting standards and other regulatory requirements. This position works with all levels of management and employees within the company, finance department and external stakeholder’s i.e. external auditors, regulators. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting the supervisor for maintaining overall control within the finance department
  • Regular compliance of regulatory and other applicable laws & requirements like on time submission of reports, statements after proper review & approval from supervisor and head of department
  • Responsible for seeing that all activities are performed in accordance with MetLife policies and other applicable policies & procedures
  • Preparation of financial statements as per applicable rules and regulation
  • Regular reporting to the supervisor and HOD on various aspects of the finance department as assigned
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including listening and interviewing skills
  • Perform special assignments of a highly complex and/or sensitive nature as directed by the supervisor & HOD and provides support to special projects requested by local management when necessary
  • Follow & demonstrate proficiency in the performance of risk-based analytics of the business finances; and understanding of data sources that drive the analytics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Good accounting & finance knowledge including NFRS/IFRS with good analytical skills
  • Human relations skills and good communication skills are essential
  • Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, Access and Outlook is preferred
  • Must be capable of handling assignments independently and quick learner

Education + Experience

  • CA/ACCA/Masters in Finance with around 3-4 years of experience in the field of accounting, finance & auditing. Knowledge of life insurance companies and higher educational qualification would be an added advantage
  • Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
