Job Description:

  • Troubleshoot and fix system/network issues during his shift.
  • ​Escalate to the transmission team if there are any Physical layer issues.
  • Monitoring UPLINKS, ISP's, Critical/VIP customers.
  • Monitoring Network and systems of MC.
  • Update system/network status and work for prompt recovery if any.
  • Monitor VIP customer's internet/intranet.
  • Monitor network, system and DR.
  • Escalate to the upper level if he cannot solve any Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues.
  • Update CRM.
  • Coordinate and follow up with Transmission departments like fiber/Radio / vsat for the issue.
  • Coordinate and follow up with upstream providers if any.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Troubleshoot and fix  various normal routing and switching issues
  • Support customers with various technical problems on the phone
  • Maintain the links with the upstream provider. Coordinate with upstream provider to resolve issues
  • Monitor the local peering links with NpIX
  • Monitor all servers and services using MRTG, NAGIOS and other software and scripts
  • Maintain/update  the database servers 
  • Take the system backups
  • Restore the system from backups
  • Provide mentoring for networking support technicians to improve overall email technology and network support
  • Liaison with software/fiber/wireless engineers, programmers, help desk, suppliers and operations to ensure timely resolution of problems 
  • Monitor the downstream ISP customers and other regular customers. In case of issues, interact with customers and support staff to answer queries, and provide support on all Network related queries, in an attempt to resolve issues within the agreed service level time 
  • Monitor and maintain the National wide network 
  • Monitor all devices and links using MRTG, NAGIOS, and other various customised shell scripts
  • Provide support to correct system outages after normal hours
  • Stay abreast of technology changes in software and hardware
  • Register all issues in CRM and provide trouble ticket numbers. Maintain progress reports on a daily basis and escalate pending issues to the next shift
  • Improve and provide documentation / Information  in order to maintain system availability
  • Member of the weekly rotatinFiberg duty roster

Education + Experience:

  • At least 1 year of Teleport Engineer or experience in similar technologies.
