Job Description:

Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent travels to other districts (mainly Terai)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to partners in conflict transformation and dialogue project work
  • Design and conduct trainings in conflict transformation and dialogue facilitation
  • Maintain communication and relationship with partners and other stakeholders at the regional/local level
  • Contribute local expertise in order to ensure that project work is application in the local context
  • Conduct ongoing research and do regular analysis with partners to support current dialogue work and explore further opportunities in the region
  • Support design of and co-facilitate trainings in conflict transformation and dialogue facilitation
  • Develop and strengthen networks of peace actors at the district and regional levels
  • Contribute to project strategy and activity planning and overall project management 
  • Coordinate, liaison and work with I/NGOs doing dialogue and dialogue facilitators in Nepal
  • Monitor project progress and write regular reports
  • Assist with Nepali-English translation and interpretation and provide logistical support for field visits

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience on conflict sensitivity and Do No Harm 
  • Experience and skill in designing and conducting trainings on dialogue facilitation and conflict transformation and in holding workshops with various stakeholders
  • Experience designing peacebuilding interventions, writing proposals and fulfilling reporting requirements. 
  • Experience in working with and knowledge on local federal structures, existing issues in implementation of federalism and actors and other stakeholders 
  • Solid understanding of Terai including work experience in these regions. Knowledge of local will be an advantage 
  • Solid command of English and Nepali language with translation experience
  • Strong aptitude for research and analysis including experience in conflict analysis
  • Ability to critically assess project design and integrate lessons learned
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with people from different backgrounds 
  • Ability to maintain impartiality when working with actors holding a variety of political affiliations
  • Good understanding and experience working in youth issues will be an advantage

Education + Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, or a relevant degree with coursework in peace and conflict
  • 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the field of conflict transformation, local peace structures and dialogue
