Working as a self-help group, the organization aims to engage in holisti ... c development and empowerment of women with disabilities (WWDs) in general and BVI girls and women in particular, by creating equal access to justice, education, employment, and social activities that would eventually lead to their fuller inclusions in all spectrums of social, economic, and political development. The organization is determined to minimize and eradicate all the possible mental and physical harassment/ mistreatment and violence against all BVI girls and WWDs.

Job Description:

  • Legal Advisor will work closely with concerned person of the cases and BWAN board
  • Advice and suggest clients concerning claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
  • Provide counselling and guidance to the clients regarding the case
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases based on legal ground
  • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments for presentation of cases
  • Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
  • Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in courts
  • Present and summarize cases to judges and juries
  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skill on case management especially in documentation
  • Skill of counselling to the justice seeker
  • Information on human rights instruments especially about the convention of persons with disabilities
  • Skill on advocacy and networking
  • Experience of working directly with stakeholders, particularly to the cases (clients)
  • Good knowledge of gender, inclusion and disability issues
  • Excellent communications skills, in English and in Nepali
  • Ability to stay in the field at least 30% of time

Education + Experience:

Bachelors in Law with good Grades
